Introduction
The Deaf Organization in Indonesia was pioneered and established in 1960 under the name Serikat Kaum Demuli Indonesia abbreviated as SEKATUBI. Then it was declared with a new name Gerakan untuk Kesejahteraan Bangu Indonesia abbreviated as GERKATIN, through the First National Congress in Jakarta, on February 23, 1981.

GERKATIN became a member of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) in 1983, paying its membership dues every year, then a member of the WFD Regional Secretariat for Asia in 1986.

GERKATIN once held the 16th WFD RS ASIA PACIFIC Representatives Meeting on 9-11 December 2004 at the SARI PAN PACIFIC Hotel, Central Jakarta, attended by 12 Asian countries, namely Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, China, Japan, Macau, Philippines, Hong Kong, Korea, Iran, Pakistan, Indonesia and 2 observer countries from Cambodia and Laos.

Referring to the Decree of the Management Committee of WFD RS ASIA number: 013/2024, dated February 3, 2024, signed by the Chairman of the Asia Region: Mr. J. Bunnag from Thailand ratifying INDONESIA as the Host of the 36th WFD RS ASIA Representatives Meeting 2024 (letter of ratification attached) based on the results of the decision in the Meeting of representatives of the Asian Federation of the Deaf (International Meeting) in Jeju City, South Korea at the major world-class WFD event, dated July 11, 2023, attended by 18 delegates from 9 Asian countries, namely Japan, Korea, Laos, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia as well as 2 observers from Vietnam and WFD RSA Oceanian.

Mensosialisasikan program-program management committee WFD RS ASIA

Mempresentasikan laporan negara dari setiap delegasi mewakili negara masing-masing.

Menyampaikan gagasan / pikiran / ide / solusi serta pengalaman dari anggota negara yang sudah maju bagi anggota yang baru berkembang misalnya: Bahasa Isyarat Nasional, Hak Azasi Manusia, Aksesibiltas komunikasi informasi, Pendidikan Anak Tuli, sosial ekonomi, isu Perempuan, dsb.

Mengadvokasi ke pihak-pihak terkait berdasarkan Undang-undang yang telah disahkan agar mampu direalisasikannya dan implementasi program SDGs (The 17 Sustainable Development Goals)

Memperkuat solidaritas dan jaringan antar organisasi nasional Tuli anggota WFD RS ASIA.

Mempererat hubungan persahabatan seluruh anggota WFD RS ASIA.

Mengenal lebih dekat dengan kebudayaan tuan rumah, dalam hal ini Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta.
