Hello Deaf Friends! Did you know that today the Deaf Mental Health Workshop is being held on Sunday, November 17, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM WIB at the Grab Excellence Center - Cilandak, South Jakarta? The workshop is presented by Mr. Herbert, a Deaf mental health advisor and activist from London, England
The workshop began with the host, Siti Rodiah, warmly opening the event, followed by Mr. Herbert, who delivered his presentation with a friendly and enthusiastic approach. A total of 65 Deaf participants gathered to attend the workshop, which provided Sign Language Interpreter access, translating from International Sign Language to Bisindo. Mr. Herbert explained the concept of Deaf mental health and highlighted the differences between positive and negative approaches to mental health challenges. He emphasized that simple steps, such as consulting with trusted individuals or seeking professional help, can be key to overcoming mental health pressures.
Not only that, but the Deaf participants were also given guidance on strategies for preventing mental health problems. The presence of two special guests added excitement to the workshop. They were Ms. Stefania, the President of the European Society on Mental Health and deafness and Director of the Assistance Center for Deaf and Deafblind Children, and Mr. Peter, a representative from SignWow, the sponsor of Mr. Herbert's Deaf Mental Health Workshop. Both guests shared insights on the importance of maintaining mental health within the Deaf community and introduced SignWow, a cutting-edge technology that provides SLI access anytime and anywhere.

The Deaf participants were also invited to be more critical of their own mental health through quizzes and Q&A sessions, encouraging them to explore their mental health conditions further.
The workshop concluded with joyous laughter as all the Deaf participants, along with the host, Mr. Herbert, Ms. Stefania, and Mr. Peter, gathered for a group photo. The atmosphere was filled with cheerful smiles, marking the end of an inspiring event. This Deaf Mental Health Workshop provided valuable insights into the importance of maintaining mental health and practical ways to address related challenges.
